ILLUSTRATED, HANDPAINTED PANELS – FOR BUTTERFLIES CHILDREN’S HOME

Illustration and hand-painting done on the front & back of a series of rotating sun-shading panels. These are installed on the front façade of the building for Delhi-based Butterflies NGO that work towards “protecting & empowering children in vulnerable situations”.

The same illustration is painted in inviting warm red-browns on the outside, and in cool blue-greens on the inside where it is seen from the building’s interior. When all panels are shut, the complete image reveals itself – swirling bands that continue across panels to form shapes to be discovered by the discerning eyes of children. Populated with leaves of all sorts, just like the children’s personalities, and with a sprinkling of bright butterflies and tiny humans exploring this whimsical abstract environment.

Can you spot the camouflaged butterfly?
